At the December TAPCUG General Meeting we got a brief glimpse of some of the new and enhanced features in Windows 7 that make it a desirable upgrade from previous versions of Windows. Not only is it faster and easier to use, Windows 7 takes less space on your hard drive than Windows Vista. When was the last time that you saw a new version of Windows that was smaller than the prior version?

Moving from a previous version of Windows to Windows 7 can be easy and fun. Whether you upgrade an existing computer or get Windows 7 on a new computer, you’ll probably want to save and use many of the programs and files that you had on your “old” system. Microsoft has identified over 10,000 applications and over 9500 devices that will work with Windows 7 but you’ll want to take some precautions. January’s program will show some of the ways you can use to preserve your information and migrate your programs and files to your new system.
